Re: Policies for December 3rd Policy Meeting
UPDATE ON THE DECISION OF POLICIES MEETING 3RD DECEMBER.
MEDICALS
The Licensing Board, decided that they wish to open the choice of Doctors beyond the current level of two. The process to do this is that the Cheif Licensing Officer will contact Sheffield Local Medical Committee, and they are to then circulate doctors and medical centres to see what interest theres is in the area for Doctors to do these medicals. The Council will then draw up a list of Doctors and the driver will have the choice from that list. The admistration of bookings and transportation of medical files is an area that will also need to be look at and protocols set with any Doctor that wishes to undertake the medicals. The Costs of these medicals will be set by the Doctors, the Council cannot dictate the charges.
Driver & Applicants Referrals Policy.
The Licensing Board accepted the proposal (with a very slight amendment) in appendiz 2 of the report. The new referrals policy is a lot clearer and spells out the exact reason what sort of offences will mean that a person HAS to be referred to the Licensing Board. The referrals policy will be uploaded to the taxi licensing web site as soon as possible, it is also available at the Taxi Licensing Section reception.
Driver Training and Development.
The Licensing Board decided to introduce a Induction Course for all new applicants, to be implemented by April 2010, They also stated that they wished to keep current driver training as a voluntary scheme for dirvers to choose if they wished to undertake training. They have asked for the current knowledge test to be reviewed earlier than the normal reveiw times (3 years). Although this will be review as a matter of course as it will change due to the induction course having parts of the knowledge test within the course. The Board also have stated that they wish to review what the take up of training is by drivers on a voluntary basis within the next calendar year.
If anybody has any questions please feel free to ring or list them on here. I will try and answer them.
