The next policy meeting of the Licensing Board is set for 2nd June 2009, there are three main reports to the Board on this date.

1. Hackney Carriage Survey Report (setting the timing for the next survey)
2. Enforcement activity reveiw
3, Frequency of CRB checks.

Copies of these reports will be available on the Council web site, when they have been distrubuted to the Councillors involved.

NEXT POLICY MEETING AND REPORTS Empty RESULTS OF POLICY MEETING ON 2nd June 2009

Enforcement Review, it was accepted that the enforcement undertaken was good and the Board were happy with the results especially the 5 convictions gained in the past months for numerous offences. The STTA wish to commend the Taxi Licensing Staff on the good work they carry out in sometimes diffcult circumstances. They commented that it had been noticed by drivers that the attitude towards "licensed Drivers" was good.

The Policy review on unmet demand survey.

The Board decided that they would recomend to the Cabinet, that an demand survey be commisioned to start in June 2010 to run for 6 months. This would allow greater detail to be included and a fairer coverage of the year in taking into account the summer through winter trade.


The Policy review on Frequency of CRB checks

This Item was deferred by the Board, they wished to seek further information on the subject from officers, and have asked for the report to be relisted for the meeting of 25th June 2009.


The Report on response to the DFT.

The Baord accepted the response as attached and commented that Sheffield appear to be complying already with majority of the changes suggested as best practice by the DFT.
