LICENSING BOARD POLICY MEEETING (03.09.09)

The Next Policy meeting of the Licensing Board is set for 3rd Septemeber 200.
The Policy items on the agenda to be discussed are
Driver Medicals ( Provision off and frequency)
Long Service Awards
Licensing Board hearing Procedures.
Private Hire and Hackney CArriage Liaison Group (setting up of)
Update on Tender for Provision of Taxi Compliance Testing.

Just to let people know what came out of the Policy meeting of 3rd September 2009.
Taxi Testing - It was reported that the Council had only recieved TWO tenders for the compliance testing of vehicles. The Board had required a minimum of seven at its meeting of June 2009.
The Board after open discussions decided that the Chair and The Cheif Licensing Officer and a Solicitor would open and generally evaluate the TWO tenders received and report back to the next meeting on 6th October 2009.
DRIVER MEDICALS
The Board considder two matters here 1, Who does the medicals 2, The frequency at which drivers are asked to undertake a medical.
The Board decided to insrtuct the Cheif Licensing Officer to investigate the possibilty of having more choice of Medical Examiners with the Sheffield Local Medical Committee. This again was to be refered back to the Board for a further report. This report will be referred back at the December meeting of the Licensing Board.
LONG SERVICE AWARDS
The Board have decided to give awards to 10 deserving nominees, the reciepients have been informed by letter and will be invited to a ceremony in November to recieve their awards from the Lord Mayor Of Sheffield.

Both Procedures for Cases hearings and Policy meetings were agreed and accepted by the Board. You can find the full reports and the procedures on the website of the Council.
PRIVATE HIRE AND HACKNEY CARRIAGE LIAISON GROUP.
The Board supported the setting up of such a group and agian the full report can be found on the web site.
As I have said before the next meeting is on 6th October 2009.
