limit goes on!!!
Hi Again gents
here is a quote from SF on the news of the Limitation
here is a quote from SF on the news of the Limitation
[QUOTE=redrobbo;3008154]Labour proposed a limitation of 830 taxis. Lib-Dems proposed an amendment to limit taxis to 865. On a recorded vote, the Labour motion succeeded.
There was a further amendment, by Labour, recommending that the Licensing Board take into account that the trade and public alike had not shown any support for the suggested £5 starting tariff post midnight. This was carried.

Re: limit goes on!!!
Good news for us who are in trade but bad for who are waiting to join. Any way congratulations to all the taxi drivers and all who make efforts to make this happen.

We are all victorious Mr Shakil, and the STTA is not some stand alone entity but as the Sheffield Taxi Trade Association is an association of the members, and we are the members so the victory is ours shared. Credit is due in large part to a good effort by the committee and all who supported the idea. Congratulation is due to all who supported the campaign to have a limit, although could have been better but a good result never the less. Ibrar Hussain worked hard and to good reason along with all like minded people to achieve a good result. The councillors made the decission and we ought to thank them for seeing the light of common sense.
As for Mr. Hafeas's efforts I can't make a comments good or bad for fear of being deleted and I simply don't know enough about him, save to say that none of the team are volunteers and are paid well for their efforts by the members, so my congrats to all the association members.
Also can you please post in the correct section and not just randomly post where ever, for example if it's news then in the "News" section and if just a discussion topic then in the appropriate section, thankyou.

Re: limit goes on!!!
Congratulations to the illiterate gang who can't read or write and have friends who can't post anthing but a sucking up tripe about their wonderful leader? Effing ha!!
The limit happened just as redrobbo had described it and infact according to the star it was opposed by the guy that the great leader used to kiss the ass of only a few weeks ago, none other than Mr Arif

The labour group deserve the credit for making the right decission and not your stupid great leader. It's the lobbying by the party machine which included Ibrar and John Robson which lead to where we are today and not your mumbling bafoon that you want us all to bow to. Have the guts to give credit where is due, John Robson pointed out the voting situation weeks ago which is more than what your great leader told the trade, so respect to Redrobbo, just turned out as he said. I am no member of the trade association so ban me for life from joining please. But Mohammed Arif, a former chairman of the organisation and a taxi driver for 19 years, said: "It's not fair. These people who are applying at the moment have spent £10,000 to £15,000."
His comments were echoed by Lib Dem leader Coun Paul Scriven, who said he was "disappointed" the affected drivers had been "penalised".
Labour's policy was appro-ved with the support of Green Party councillors Jillian Creasy and Bernard Little.

Re: limit goes on!!!
The STTA has worked hard for this issue and your agreement is not sought at all Ahmed, and please don't insult anyone, it just lowers the standards. Hafeas and Ibrar along with all the rest need to be contratulated for an important decission that they worked for.

Re: limit goes on!!!
Back on topic please, I've just read a breakdown of the voting by cllr John Robbson and pretty much explains how close it was and a joly good thing it passed
The only question is, who broke her arm? And as expected Cllr Ibrar didn't vote because of his personal interest in the issue.Cllr Anne Smith (Sheffield Group - Conservative) did indeed speak against any limitation, but abstained on both the Labour motion (setting a limitation of 830 licenses) and on the Lib-Dem amendment (setting a limitation of 865 licenses).
Cllr Martin Davis (Sheffield Group - Independent) voted against the Labour motion and for the Lib-Dem amendment.
Cllrs Jillian Creasy and Bernard Little (Green Party) both voted for the Labour motion and against the Lib-Dem amendment.
One Labour councillor declared a personal interest (as he is a taxi driver) and did not take part in the debate and did not vote.
One Labour councillor was absent (in hospital) and one Lib-Dem councillor was also absent (in hospital - having broken her arm only minutes before the council meeting commenced!).
