Following recent changes in legislation, the Licensing Board (policy meeting) today agreed to implement a new policy to license special occasioin private hire vehicles, including stretch limos, etc.

Briefly, vehicles must have between 4 and 8 seats (all fitted with belts); vehicles must will be no more than 4 years old (but any older vehicles must be referred to the Licensing Board for consideration); drivers MUST be licensed (with CRB checks); vehicles can be left-hand drive; etc., etc.

Licensing staff are now investigating whether special private hire vehicles - which sell alcohol (eg bottle of champange) as part of the hire arrangements - must additionally be licensed under the Licensing Act 2003! If so, they will need a designated premises manager, etc., etc., under that separate legislation.

I thought this good news would cheer you up!

Cheers

Sounds good to me. Now can we have a number to call when we need to report any culprics? Like some of the unlicensed limos taking up half a street. Mad
