Teenager is hurt in crash

A TEENAGER was taken to hospital with serious injuries after losing control of his car on a bend and smashing head-on into a taxi.
The 18-year-old was driving a red VW Polo along Abbeydale Road South, Sheffield, between Dore Road and Abbey Lane, when he lost control on a bend.

The car collided with a blue Peugeot Partner taxi travelling in the opposite direction.

Firefighters cut the Bradway Bank teenager free. He suffered serious chest and abdominal internal injuries, and is being treated in the Northern General Hospital.

The 60-year-old taxi driver from the Manor Park area suffered cuts to his knee and was released after treatment.
