HACKNEY CARRIAGE FARES
As anthying been raised about a fares application, is it not October that the Board said they would review the 50p surcharge and isnt it this time of year that fare increases are discussed. Anybody any news on this?

Re: HACKNEY CARRIAGE FARES
Had it confirmed from the Licensing Section 4.1% and the removeal of the 50p fuel surcharges this to be advertised this week hopefully, then fourteen days for objections. If no objections this should be in by 1st week in november.

Re: HACKNEY CARRIAGE FARES
Just another thought on this, if an objection is raised about the fares increase can the Council make it lower as well as increase the amount, at its objection meeting?

Re: HACKNEY CARRIAGE FARES
Just found out that objections have been raised from both trade??? and public about the new fares, I hope the guys who are saying they represent the Trade?? have a good argument seeing as the Council will point to fuel decreases over the last few weeks and months and that drivers have had a 50p per journey increase since July, If you work that out if the average cab journey is three miles, and you do 700 miles per week, (and accordning to tax people you can take a 1/3 off for personal journeys and empty milage,) that leave about 500 to 450 miles a week. Divide that by 3 leaves 150mile x 50p is £75 per week, better. Now that fuel has come down its about 17p per mile cheaper, since the fuel surcharge went on, so at 150 miles per week that £25.50 per week in drivers pockets. Also have a look round at wages rises in the public sector such as Fire Fighters, Police 2.4% Teachers 3% Council workers 2.45%.Nurses 8% over three years I think it may be dangerous going back to the Council at this time???? What do others think?
