DEMAND SURVEY (HACKNEY CARRIAGE LIMITATION)

The Licensing Board at its meeting on 2nd June 2009, recomended to the Cabinet of the Council, that a demand survey be undertaken from June 2010 until January 2011, The survey will be tendered for later this year to start on the 1st June 2010.

Where Council's operate a limitation policy, they have to have an up to date survey to maintain a limitation.

Up to date in in opinions of Crown Courts in stated cases is not more than three years old.

The previous survey was commisioned in 2007.

Will there be a window of opportunity for the taxi Barons to get more cabs plated just before the survey is finished?
I find it hillarious the drivers then blame our council for issuing too many plates when it's their own mates doing the dirty on them. Some taxi Barons have over forty cabs rented out on insurance scams and other rentals but we don't hear much complaint about that do we? And why not? Can anybody on here offer an answer please?

Are you just venting some anger or is there more to it than just accusations? Shouldn't you be going to the authorities if you have evidence of wrongdoing rather than posting allegations about insurance scams on here?

You're missing the point Admin, there are the wide boys taking advantage of the situation and all the rest of the trade is suffering.

You know there are people making shed loads of money through accident claims companies, how else do they afford brand new cabs just to give to anyone who has a bump?

Even a minor shunt that probably would have had a wipe with a cloth and an agreement between both parties that no harm done is now a major accident and cab off the road for up to six weeks. All the time rent being charged on a curtseys cab at about £90/day. These guys are the reason we all are paying too much for our insurance premiums.

Just to clarify some of the recent posts on here, the survey has to be conducted for legal reasons,
1, The limit is in place and any new application for a hackney beyond that limit will have to go before the licensing board for consideration.
2, The survey will be done with the limit still in place and the results will be reported back to the licensing board sometime in Early 2011.
3, If any person is found guilty of any offence in relation to FRAUD, then as with any other conviction any licenses they have WILL be referred to the Licensing Board for consideration, and prior to that their licenses may be suspended with immediate effect.

I hope this has clarified the situation, any further questions please post on here and we will try and answer them as quick as possible.

Mr Ahmed is mothing off about stuff that claims firms are up to, but are they doing anything illegal? I can see they make a lot of money but they are making money out of insurance firms who know exactly what the score is. Do you think they would pay up if they felt they were being taken for a ride? I don't tink so. So stop throwing your toys out of pram because someone is making more money than you Ahmed.
