CCTV: Taxi attack
A VIOLENT passenger who attacked a South Yorkshire taxi driver is being hunted by police.
The 51-year-old cabbie had picked up the man in Doncaster town centre and took him to Swinton before the man claimed to have lost his house keys.
He asked the taxi driver to take him back to Doncaster but during the return journey, near the junction of York Road and Barnsley Road, he became aggressive, assaulting the driver and causing substantial damage to the cab.
He kicked the screen next to the driver and broke it before running off towards the town centre.
He was last seen on CCTV heading through Doncaster's transport interchange
tunnel.
He had been picked up from Priory Walk in Doncaster town centre, after leaving the Walkabout pub at 11.25pm on Sunday, November 25.
The taxi driver sustained cuts and bruises to his neck and face in the attack.
Doncaster police have issued a picture of the man they want to trace in connection with the incident.
He is white, in his mid 20s, 6ft, and of a medium build. He had short blond spiky hair and was wearing blue jeans and a red short sleeved t-shirt.
Anyone with information about this incident, which happened just past midnight on Monday November 26 or who may be able to help identify the person in the picture, should call Fiona Ginbey on 01302 385135 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
