Parents spend a year of lives ferrying kids about
If it feels like you spend far too much time ferrying your kids from one place to another, you're probably right. A new survey has found that parents spend almost a year of their lives running what they call the 'Mum and Dad taxi service'.
The report, which quizzed 752 parents, found that 91% of UK parents of children aged between three and 15, who drive, spent upwards of 10 hours a week driving their kids around. And it's not just our own kids that benefit – 55% said they also gave regular lifts to other people's children.
It's an expensive business. The majority (58%) are clocking up to 1,000 miles a year driving their offspring around and spending over £1,200 a year on fuel. Parents also feel that they're missing out on favourite TV shows, social activities and even sleep, because of all the driving they have to do.
Does this sound like you? How many hours do you clock up a week?
