POLICE are investigating claims that West Bromwich Albion footballer John Hartson failed to pay a taxi fare.
Officers are looking at allegations that the 31-year-old did not pay a cabbie who picked him up from Ashby de la Zouch, in Leicestershire, and took him to his home in Solihull, near Birmingham.
A spokeswoman for Leicestershire Police, responding to a report in The Sun, said they had received a complaint about the behaviour of a man who is alleged to have failed to pay his full taxi fare.
The incident is said to have taken place between midnight and 1.30am on Sunday, she said.
"The matter was reported to police on Tuesday afternoon and officers are now making further inquiries. The investigation is in its early stages and it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time," she said.
