Fare increase
So are we going to be getting a fare increase now that fuel has gone up so much and considering that we didn't get one last year?

Well if you think it's good to subsidise travel of the taxi traveling public then so be it, but seems others don't agree with you, there is a proposal in front of the Licensing committee to look at offering an emergency fare increase early in June. As a confirmation I post this posted on the Sheffield Forum website by one of our Licensing committee members
What do you think?[QUOTE=redrobbo;6276775]I can confirm that the taxi trade have made an emergency application to the Licensing Sub-Committee for a fare increase. This may be being discussed at the forthcoming Licensing Sub-Committee policy meeting on 08 June, if not earlier.

Re: Fare increase
Lets get real and talk to the drivers themselves, WHO made the application, doesnt say.
Well i can tell you im the Majority!!!!
Fare increases equal less jobs and more hassle!!!!!
People should look at the situation as a whole and not think about themselves individually!
Would you rather have an extra 20p or an extra job!!!!!!!!!
My suggestion is revert back to the 20 jump on the meter as in this case the meter is in our favor!!!!!!As it jumps quicker than the 30p.

Re: Fare increase
At a guess it would have to be the top men of the STTA who thought up the idea of a fare increase. TBH I would say we need to have small increases on a regular basis otherwise we will all struggle to get a larger increase when we get left behind.

Re: Fare increase
There will be a verbal report to the June 8th Licensing Board Policy meeting by the Chief Licensing Officer, this has been asked for by the Chair as a request for an increase has been recieved from the STTA. The request is outside the terms of the current policy of reviewing hackney fares annually (October) and the discussion for the Board is whether to accept the application and have a meeting to discuss the matter at a later policy date (possibly July). They will not make a decision on the fares at the June meeting!
It also appears that the fuel price is decreasing somewhat since the original post on this forum.
