What happened to the report recommendations?
There was a report commissioned by the council, a couple of years ago concerning taxi ranks. Have all the recommendations been implemented, or can anybody say how many more will be implemented apart from the ranks in Haymarket area ranks that have already been given?

There was a report and this is no an ongoing excersise to introduce the ranks where they have been identified in that report, Matt Proctor Principal Licensing Officer attend on a regular basis meetings with highways which are attended by STTA representatives as well. I know that some of the ranks have appeared such as Hillsboro area etc. Unfortunately and probably surprisingly to you all, ranks are not the responsibility of the Taxi Licensing Section it is the Highways Departments responsibility to implement traffic regulations which hackney carriage ranks form part of.
All we can do as a service is to put the arguments forward to highways that the ranks should be a priority to them and that the implementation of new ranks agreed should move forward quickly.
