Cabbie's phone call costs £330

A TAXI driver has been fined for using his mobile phone while driving his cab.
Paul Hodges, 45, of Amberbanks Grove, South Shore, admitted using a phone while driving when he appeared before Blackpool magistrates.

Victoria Cartmell, prosecuting for Blackpool Council, said that on September 29 a council enforcement officer saw Hodges driving his taxi in Cedar Square while talking on his mobile phone.

The defendant told magistrates in a letter: "It was a silly mistake which will not happen again. I have now purchased a hands-free set."

Hodges was fined £115 with £200 costs, ordered to pay the £15 victims' surcharge and had three motoring penalty points put on his driving licence.
