HELP, ANYBODY OUT THERE KNOW, PLEEEEEEESE??
Can anyone please tell us what's going on here??
Apprently Hafeas the stta chairman has some sort of a letter from the SCC authorising him to adjust taxi meters and he is charging £5 for the privelage. Now, we weren't given any warning that anything was wrong with our meters, if so what is wrong and what adjustments is Hafeas making to meters and are all meters involved or only some. Many drivers have concerns about this, especially aFter checking with the mter agents Aand being told there is nothing wrong and no adjustment required, HELP!!!!

Regarding meter adjustment, a driver mentioned that a few vehicles that went for test were made aware that meters were running slow.

But......why would Hafeas need to change that and not the meter agents? They should at least be aware of what is going on but apparently they aren't any the wiser than we are.

Re: HELP, ANYBODY OUT THERE KNOW, PLEEEEEEESE??
I dont know about this and when I rang the Town Hall they didnt either, as far as they were conerned the only problem was with Cygnus at the start of the change over and this as far as they are concerned has been sorted. They did say that they have had some complaints (under 5) about the drivers getting less this year after ten miles than last year. I did my own calculation and found this not to be true see following (sorry it is complicated but this is how i did it)
Last years yardage was set at upto 10 miles 20p per 244 yds
This years yardage upto 10 miles 30p per 346 yds
The some you have to do is this
07/08 charges
10 miles = 17600 yds minus 160 yds (start up fee) = 17440 divide this by 244 = 71.475 (counts as 72 drops) 72 X 0.20p = 14.40 plus 2.50 = 16.90
15 miles is calculated at 10 miles = 16.90
5 miles = 8800 yds divide this by 184yds = 47.82(48 drops) x by 0.20p = 9.60 this then add to 16.90 = 15 miles for £26.50
08/09
10 miles = 17600 yds minus 160 yds (start up fee) = 17440 divide this by 346 = 50.40 (51 drops) x 0.30p = 15.30 plus 2.50 = 17.80 = rise of 5.4%
15 miles is calculated at 10 miles = 17.80
5 miles = 8800 yds divide this by 285yds = 30.8(41 drops) x by 0.30p = 9.30 this then add to 17.80 = 15 miles for £27.10 rise of 3%
So offsetting the 1.3% extra we have got (agree rise was 4.1%) for the first 10 miles we asked for, agianst th 1.1% we seem to be down after 15 miles i think the best thing is to keep quiet.
HOW many 15 mile or over journeys do you do?

I doubt it, but your job is to serve the public without questions.TX1an wrote:EH! ??? So Does that mean I will get paid when I take 5 lads to pitsmoor?
The lads from Pitsmoor only leave without paying but the lads from the bus station and train station, and also the lads from town hall demand money with menaces and you pay otherwise no work, so lads from Pitsmoor not too bad you know.

Re: HELP, ANYBODY OUT THERE KNOW, PLEEEEEEESE??
I think there is a lot of rumoUr mongering going on and instead of confirming the story most are happy to add to it and peddle it further. There is no major crisis apparently, and no letter of authority issued by the council and the rest is probably also made up too. As vulcan has pointed out in most cases we benefit and in some we don't but on the whole it's in our favour. Thanks to Mat for clearing up the issue from the Town Hall perspective in a telephone conversation.

I was told that Central has the Agency, so a man of many talents (most hidden) Hafeas will be the agent
