Testing of vehicles
At its meeting of 12th August the Licensing Board decided that the vehicle testing regime that we have in Sheffield will remain the same for the next 12 months at least. This means HCV will be tested 2 per year from 8 years onwards, and PHV will be tested 2 per year from 5 years onwards.
Also at this meeting was a report on enforcement what was suprising on there was that the Board had revoked or refused 15 applications for drivers and aboyt 2/3rds got their licence on appeal to magistrates. Some of the reasons for refusal were in my mind very strong and it seesm strange that the magistrates take a different veiw, there was one particular case where a driver admitted to the board, that he had driven for ages without insurance which if he had been caught at the time could have resulted in over 25/30 no insurances, the Board did not renew his licence but the mags gave it him back. WHY i am sure we are all asking, these type of people should not be in the trade and the mags shoudl make sure, they give the trade a bad name?
