Typhoon take-off on Sheffield taxi

AN IMPRESSIVE image of an RAF Coningsby-based 29(Reserve) Squadron Typhoon can now be seen on a taxi in Sheffield, as part of recruitment campaign.
"The Typhoon is the aircraft that the public associate with the RAF, with its cutting edge technology, but also it epitomises the RAF's continuous endeavour to be at the forefront of aviation technology" said Cpl Bob Worthington-Harris, who works at the Armed Forces Careers Office in Sheffield.
He went on to say: "Advertising the RAF on taxis and buses is not a new idea, but this is the first time an image of a Typhoon aircraft has been used.
"In my opinion this advertisement with its 'less is more' and striking profile, stands out 'above the rest'."
He added: "So if you want to see a 29(R) Squadron Typhoon powering through a city at street level, then come to Sheffield, but keep your eyes peeled as you might just miss it!"
No 29(R) Squadron is the Operational Conversion Unit, where front-line pilots are trained to fully equip current and future Typhoon Squadrons. The RAF currently have four Typhoon squadrons, all based at RAF Coningsby.
