Cabtivate boss hiring for new taxi ads venture
THE founder of Cabtivate, the Edinburgh-based taxi advertising business which went into liquidation in January, has been advertising for workers for a new venture in the Capital.
Mark Greenhalgh, who left behind debts of £1 million when his business folded two months ago, is believed to be looking for sales executives for an "audio visual TV system" for black taxis.
The new firm, Tapinto, was today reported to have advertised for staff on the totaljobs.com website last week.
But Mr Greenhalgh faces a backlash from the imminent publication of trade newspaper Taxi Globe which said it would "warn" taxi drivers about what Mr Greenhalgh was doing.
Tapinto was incorporated by Scottish registration agents with a head office listed as Milton Keynes, just three days after Cabtivate's directors petitioned for liquidation on January 22.
Mr Greenhalgh's original venture was slammed on TV show Dragons' Den when he attempted to get funding for his idea. While it failed to secure funding it went on to achieve short-term success.
But the collapse of Cabtivate, which had systems running in taxis across the UK, has left many taxi drivers saddled with debts after being persuaded to take out four-year payment agreements of £104 a month on a promise of £192-a-month income.
Ken Pattullo, at liquidator Begbies Traynor, has warned that if "intellectual property" was transferred from the old company to a new company, it would be "of concern".

These guys at the top of the tree make a habit of fleecing people like us, time and time again, and we keep falling for it time and time again.
