TOYONAKA, Osaka -- A taxi driver and passenger sustained minor injuries after the driver -- a 72-year-old -- crashed into several vehicles during a weekend white-knuckle trip along the Hanshin Expressway that saw him drive for 3 kilometers along the wrong side of the road, police said.
Police said the elderly driver smashed into another taxi parked on the side of the expressway, with the impact of the crash spinning his car in the opposite direction.
Undeterred, the old driver continued powering along, even though his car was now traveling on the wrong side of the road, and collided with another taxi.
He continued driving up the wrong side of the expressway for about 3 kilometers before finally leaving via an exit and traveling on a normal road, where he was finally stopped.
He had sustained minor injuries in the crash, as had a passenger in one of the other taxis he had crashed into, police said.
