OAP hurt in taxi collision

An 89-year-old woman suffered serious injuries when a reversing black cab was in collision with her in Sheffield.

The taxi was going into Machon Bank from Empire Road in Nether Edge when the accident happened.

The local woman was detained in hospital with leg injuries. The driver, 22, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving before he was bailed.

We have information it was a 52 reg' gold coloured cab being driven by a youngish lad. Most will probably know who it is anyway, so everything will come out in due course.

That young lad was making a name for himself as a bit of an idiot the way he raced around, I'm not surprised he got himself in trouble by knocking this lady over. I hope to God she is OK.

to many drivers need to slow down/ dont like to say it but 99% are the young ones /sound like me dad there/ just remember its your job not a race /thease cabs take some stopping at speed . and do a lot of harm to people when hit by one. ok then happy christmas to you all

Anyone know what happened to this lad after he was arrested? Is he still off the road or what?

I have seen the kid working over the past week so can't have been all that serious, probably the Star made a bigger deal of it than was worth.
