POLICIES AT LICENSING BOARD TODAY. 25th June 2009

Post by Licensing Section on Thu Jun 25, 2009 2:38 pm

There was three policies at the Licensing Board today, The Board was attended today by trade reps from PHDA and appologies were recieved from STTA and SCOPHO

1, NEW DRIVERS - LENGHTH OF FIRST LICENCE.

It was resloved that for any new application for a private hire and hackney carriage drivers licence the Licensing Board only give delegated powers to officers to grant on first application a licence for a term of 9 months, also that on a 2nd Licence issued, this would be for a 12 months period and only at a 3rd Licence would a 18 month licence be issued.

So in simple terms

1st Badge = 9 months

2nd badge = 12 months

3rd Badge = 18 months

This does not affect the referrals policy and will not stop the licensing board having the power to issue short term licences on renewals or to new applicants when they have been referred.

2,
CRIMINAL RECORDS FREQUENCY OF CHECKING.

It was resolved by the Board not to alter the current situation of having an Enhanced Criminal Records Check completed on every drivers application made whether that be a renewal or new application.

3, VEHICLE COMPLAINCE TESTING STANDARDS.

The Board resolved that the submitted standards are accepted. This document will be made publically available after the tendering for testing services advert is placed (1st July).
