Plying for hire where parking restrictions are in Place

Post by Licensing Section on Mon Jul 06, 2009 12:57 pm

Some of you may be aware that Taxi Licensing Officers have been undertaking enforcement in two main areas of the City where ILLEGAL PARKING of Hackney Carriages and other vehicles some licensed some un-licenced has been causing problems for othe road users and residents of the areas involved.

As a licensing section we do have to respond to complaints and instruction from Licensing Board this is what my officers have been doing.

We have had a few drivers ringing to complain that they have recieved warning letters when they have been Legally plying for hire.

These warning letters are not given out at random, my officers are under instruction to allow suffcient time for the vehicle to be approached by passengers if they have been "flagged down" or simply pull up for customers in a busy area.

If you do this and within a reasonable time you are not approached you will be asked to move away and stop causing the obstruction, you will then recieve written warning letters as to your actions.

If ever you need to clarify any details that are given in the letter, then please call the taxi licensing section who will answer your querries.

Thanks
