Robbery on the ranks

Post by Admin on Fri Jun 20, 2008 2:57 pm

I was flicking through the Sheffield forum website and came accross a discussion on taxis. One post which interested me apart from the normal bickering is this, and I quote directly
i were in embrace last fri me and 2 m8s came out went straight to a taxi and got told 2 go to first taxi at front of q, thought fair enough so went got in this taxi and he demanded 30quid to high green so we just sat in for about half an hour arguing with him was a fun end to a good night, we told him he wernt getting 30quid but we offered 15 quid and for him to put it on meter but he wouldnt, he then got out of taxi and practically pulled my m8 out so me and my other mate just got out, anyways any1 know where to conplain about a taxi i got the reg plate its L******- avoid it like the plague this guys just out to ruin your nights out and demand money from people who are tierd and drunk of course. lukily we got another taxi 2 seonds late and he charged us 14 quid to high green which is good compared to normal taxi prices!
I hilighted the cab number of the cab, what a shame he needed to do that, if he did that is?

If anyone from licensing or the STTA reads this then I hope they might want to discuss the situation with the driver in question. If however the passenger who made the allegation takes it to officially report him then the law must take it's course and we should refrain from any more comment about this chap till a result is known. As John has pointed out we need to be rid of this type of sharp practice, it's giving all trade a bad name.

The cab in question is without a plate at the moment (I saw it), wheather through test faileure or simply age limit, I don't know but no longer on the road as a hackney. The driver on the other hand is still about and maybe driving another cab.
