A CRACKDOWN on rogue taxis in Sheffield city centre led to 136 vehicles being stopped for checks over a five-month period.

A SHEFFIELD man has been caged for 17 years for repeatedly raping a teenage girl over a four year period.

Stephen Richard Thompson, aged 49, of Sicey Avenue, Shiregreen, Sheffield, was jailed after being found guilty of 10 counts of rape between late 2003 and early 2008.

Magistrates ordered that Iftkhar Chaudhry should also pay a £15 victim surcharge following the death of 43-year-old Peter Stappard.
